Prof. Chung G. Kang received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego in 1987, followed by M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Irvine in 1989 and 1993, respectively. Currently serving as a full professor at Korea University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, Dr. Kang specializes in areas such as massive MIMO, grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access, dynamic spectrum access, mobile caching networks, and AI-based communication system design. As a recipient of Dr. Irwin Jacobs Award sponsored by Qualcomm Inc. for his contribution to research on mobile communication technologies, he has over 500 papers published and/or presented in journals and conference proceedings in the fields of mobile communication and wireless networks, while holding over 100 patents. He also coauthored a reference textbook on the MIMO-OFDM wireless system, entitled “MIMO-OFDM Wireless Communication with MATLAB” (Wiley, 2010). He served as the chair of 2.3GHz IMT-WiBro Project Group (PG702) in Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), which is a standard development organization (SDO) in Korea. He is a senior member of IEEE COMSOC, IT, and VT, a KICS Fellow, and a member of National Academy of Engineering of Korea. He has also played significant leadership roles in various organizations, as the chair of KICS Mobile Communication Technical Activity Group, the president of KICS, and the chair of Wireless Technology Committee in 5G Forum of Korea. Currently, he serves as the Chair of the Steering Committee in the Satellite Communication (SatCom) Forum of Korea.
